Sufio is an established Shopify invoicing app with customizable templates and Peppol delivery. Faktwise focuses on eligible Shopify e-invoices, source choices and accountant handover. Faktwise has two plans: free up to 5 invoices/month and Unlimited at $22 USD every 30 days, with a 14-day trial. The euro equivalent is approximately EUR 19 depending on exchange rates, not a fixed euro charge. Shopify order volume does not create additional Faktwise price tiers.
If your store sends a handful of invoices a month and you want Sufio’s template polish, Sufio’s $7 Starter is fair value. If your volume is growing or already high, the math diverges quickly.
Credit notes: check coverage, not just price
Do not rely on older claims that Sufio credit notes require a $49 plan. Public plan descriptions are not clear enough to support that comparison. Check the current plan features and confirm your refund workflow with the provider.
A correction needs a traceable link to the issued original. Check which refunds an app supports and how it surfaces unclear amounts.
Faktwise credit notes are included in both plans. Supported refunds require an issued original. Source-selected processing supports item and shipping refunds from saved invoice data; custom or incomplete amounts need attention. Legacy processing does not support shipping-only or free-form refunds. See the FAQ.
German e-invoicing: ZUGFeRD, XRechnung, Leitweg-ID
Both apps speak ZUGFeRD, with differences in the details:
- Sufio advertises ZUGFeRD and Factur-X. Confirm the profile and delivery route you need with the provider.
- Faktwise generates ZUGFeRD in the EN 16931 profile. It does not run Mustangproject, veraPDF or KoSIT on every production document. Check a specific file separately with the validator.
For public-sector customers, the file format, Leitweg-ID and delivery route must all fit. Sufio advertises Peppol; confirm whether it covers your particular XRechnung requirement. Faktwise does not currently provide Peppol delivery. Faktwise collects the Leitweg-ID in the cart and generates XRechnung when seller contact email and IBAN are set. Otherwise there is a ZUGFeRD fallback notice; a public-sector recipient may not accept it.
Faktwise collects VAT IDs in the cart and checks them at invoice time through VIES or a shop-specific cached result up to 30 days old. It does not change Shopify checkout tax or classify mixed in-person/online products separately.
Archiving, OSS and the accountant workflow
- Archive: Faktwise retains issued documents for ten years; its design supports GoBD requirements but does not certify your whole process.
- OSS: With OSS enabled, reports group Faktwise-issued documents by country and rate. Reconcile other sales; a real BOP import remains unconfirmed.
- Export: ZIP with available files and a summary CSV, not a DATEV posting batch.
Where Sufio is genuinely strong
A fair comparison cuts both ways. Reasons to choose Sufio:
- Templates: Sufio offers extensive document design options.
- Peppol: Sufio advertises network delivery, which Faktwise does not currently offer.
- Languages: Sufio lists English, German and French in its Shopify description.
Before switching, try the documents, search, delivery and refund workflows you need. Historical user complaints do not establish current capabilities.

FAQ
Is Faktwise a full replacement for Sufio?
Not for every store. Compare source rules, refunds, tax cases, templates and delivery routes. If you need Peppol or product-level mixed-event tax treatment, current Faktwise cannot replace that entire workflow.
Why do credit notes matter so much?
They document a correction against the original without overwriting the issued invoice. Verify the specific refund case and the app’s boundaries.
Does Sufio support XRechnung?
Confirm the exact output and delivery route with Sufio. Faktwise generates XRechnung with a Leitweg-ID and complete seller details, but offers neither Peppol delivery nor an automatic KoSIT run for every production document.
